Angela G. Carlin is recognized as one of the Top 50 Female Ohio Super Lawyers and an Ohio Super Lawyer by Cincinnati Magazine. She is admitted to the Ohio Bar Association and also to the U.S. Tax Court and U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Carlin belongs to the Ohio Bar Association of Greater Cleveland, the Cuyahoga County Bar Association (Probate and Trust Law Section) and the American Bar Association. She has an extensive background in estate planning and trusts, administration and litigation, and has authored the Merrick-Rippner Ohio Probate Manual and numerous publications throughout her career. She has been named in Who's Who in the Midwest, Who's Who of American Women in Law, and received the Ohio State Bar Association's Nettie Cronise Lutes Award, which goes to the female lawyer who has improved the legal profession. She was very active as a student at BGSU, was named a Distinguished Alumna in 1989, and served on the boards of the BGSU Foundation and the Alumni Association. She earned her juris doctor degree from Case-Western Reserve University's School of Law in 1955.

David Hainline worked in the broadcasting industry in the Washington, D.C. area, holding sales and management positions for broadcasting giants including Viacom, Emmis Broadcasting, ABC/Cap Cities and Infinity CBS. After retiring from broadcasting in 1999, he immediately put his communications and sales skills to use as president of Capitol Services Inc., an award-winning special event and meeting planning company founded by his wife, Jill. Hainline oversees all aspects of CSI's operations, including developing the company's marketing and sales strategies and managing relationships with the Presidential Inaugural Committee, AIG Global Investment Company, Mercer Consulting, Pfizer, the Korean Peace Festival and other clients. He created a telecommunications scholarship and an internship program for BGSU students. Active within the hospitality industry and his community, Hainline was a member of the Leadership Committee of the Professional Conference Management Association; served on the annual meeting committee of the Healthcare Convention & Exhibitors Association; chaired the marketing committee of the DMC Network; and was a member of the tourism committee for the Washington, D.C., Convention and Tourism Corporation. He served on the school board for St. Luke Catholic School in Mclean, Va., where he is also a Eucharistic minister. He has coached youth soccer and basketball for his two sons.

Shantanu Narayen oversees Adobe Systems' global operations and sets the vision for the company's diverse product lines. Together with CEO Bruce Chizen, Narayen has grown Adobe's business to more than $1.6 billion in annual revenues and spearheaded the planned $3.4 billion acquisition of Macromedia Inc. Since joining the company in 1998, he has held key product research and development positions, including vice president and general manager of Adobe's engineering technology group, senior vice president of worldwide product development and, most recently, executive vice president of worldwide products. Prior to joining Adobe, Narayen was an early pioneer of digital photo sharing over the Internet as co-founder of Pictra Inc. He previously was director of desktop and collaboration at Silicon Graphics Inc. and had several senior management positions at Apple Computer Inc. He holds five patents and is a frequent speaker at industry events. He also serves on the advisory board of the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley, and is a member of the YMCA of the Mid-Peninsula Association Board of Directors. Myra Patchen heads MLP Consulting, a private pharmaceutical consulting company that provides a wide range of assistance for drug development and regulatory strategy plans. Previously she was with Sucampo Pharmaceuticals Inc. of Bethesda, Md., where she started as vice president of research and development and was promoted to chief operating officer and then chief executive officer. She is a member of the pharmaceutical steering committee for Biothera Inc., on the board of directors for Sucampo Pharmaceuticals Inc. and a former director for R-Tech Ueno (USA) Inc. For 10 years Patchen did post-doctoral work under a National Science Foundation fellowship. She is affiliated with many professional pharmaceutical and scientific research associations and has extensively presented her work at national and international scientific conferences and published extensively in peer-reviewed scientific journals and books.

He consulted in the financing and formation of MTR and its predecessor and then became CEO of Mountaineer in 1995, taking the company to national recognition as one of Forbes Magazine's "200 Best Companies in America" in 2001 and 2002, and as one of Fortune Magazine's "100 Fastest Growing Companies in America" in 1999, 2000 and 2002. In 2001, he was honored as "Master Entrepreneur of the Year" for West Virginia. Previously he was a tax partner with Seidman and Seidman, a vice president at Broadview Financial Services and a tax consultant with Arthur Andersen & Company. He also was an officer in the United States Air Force, serving in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Daniel Lemaitre recently joined Medtronic Inc. after 28 years as an investment analyst specializing in medical technology. He began his analytical career as a buy-side analyst in 1978 working at National City Bank in Cleveland and Standish Ayer & Wood in Boston. His sell-side career included 18 years with SG Cowen where he was managing director and led the health career research effort. He spent the past six years with Merrill Lynch. He was named to the Institutional Investor's All American Research Team for 19 consecutive years, capturing first place honors eight times as the top ranked medical supply and technology analyst in the country. He serves on the board of Lawrence Academy, was a board member of Emerson Hospital for 10 years and continues to serve as corporator. He also served as a youth leader for the Trinitarian Congregational Church in Concord, Mass. He is an overseer of the Huntington Theatre in Boston.

Valerie Newell is managing director and senior portfolio manager at RiverPoint Capital Management. She held similar leadership positions with Scudder, Stevens & Clark, Haberer Investment Advisors and Arthur Andersen. Newell, a Certified Public Accountant, ended an 11-year term on the BGSU Board of Trustees, retiring as chairperson in May 2004. She also served on the BGSU Foundation Board and the Alumni Association Board. She is chair of the Cincinnati Art Museum Board of Trustees, a presidential appointee to the National Women's CEO Advisory Board, and a trustee of the University of Cincinnati Foundation, the Cincinnati Parks Foundation, the Beechacres Foundation, Summit Country Day School and Cincinnati Hamilton County Library Foundation. She also is a trustee emeritus and past chair of the Cincinnati Museum Center. At BGSU, she was the outstanding senior woman graduate and an All American in collegiate swimming. Geoffrey Radbill retired in 2004 as senior vice president, Human Resources/Retail Distribution Initiatives, previously he was chief operating officer for the Retail Sales Force at AXA Financial/Equitable Life Assurance Society. He held various managerial positions with the company for 36 years. He earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Bowling Green State University. Currently at BGSU, he is a new member of the BGSU Foundation Board, and an executive-in-residence and advisory board member for the finance department. He also is working with the BGSU admissions office to encourage New York area students to attend the University. In addition to his involvement at BGSU, he is active with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, previously as development committee chairperson, vice president of the board and president-elect of a local chapter. Radbill currently is involved in fund raising and client service consulting for the new York City chapters of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the American Cancer Society. While employed at AXA Financial/Equitable Life, he was a Registered Investment Adviser, Registered Representative, and a Registered Securities Principal of the NASD, a member of the American Society of Chartered Life Underwriters and Chartered Financial Consultants, and the Alexis de Tocqueville Society of the United Way.

Robert Bard has worked at UM's medical center since 1996. He currently is a research associate in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. He earned a bachelor's degree from BGSU in exercise science and a master's degree in clinical exercise physiology from Ball State University's Human Performance Laboratory. His contribution to the medical community has involved improvements in the prognostic assessment of patients with heart failure. He has given several presentations at international cardiology meetings. In addition to authoring numerous original research articles, Bard has authored a book chapter regarding hypertension and surgical risk, and serves as a reviewer for Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, Circulation and Clinical Cardiology. He is a research mentor with the undergraduate research opportunities program and also coaches children's track with the Ann Arbor Track Club. He is an active member of the American Heart Association, American College of Cardiology and American Medical Writers Association.

I've been to the White House and the State House and all over the world, but the biggest and most important step that I ever took was the step into the side door of Founders Quadrangle in September 1963 wearing that orange sweatshirt."
Ellen Connally retired in 2004 from the Cleveland Municipal Court after almost 25 years on the bench. The former BGSU trustee is a founding member of the Cuyahoga County Black Alumni chapter, a member of Leadership Cleveland, the Mayor's Task Force on Violent Crime and a former trustee for Cleveland Society for the Blind. In addition to her bachelor's degree from BGSU, Connally earned a juris doctorate and a master of arts degree, both from Cleveland State University. This year she expects to earn a Ph.D. from University of Akron. She is a member of the Bar for Ohio, Northern District of Ohio, Sixth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and U.S. Supreme Court. She was an administrative judge for Cleveland Municipal Court, chairperson of the court's personnel, probation committee and served on the Legal Aid Committee. She was a candidate in the 2004 general election for Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court. Other community involvement includes Center for Mental Retardation, Breast Cancer Fund of Ohio, Community Action against Addiction and Cleveland Marshall College of Law Alumni Association. She has earned the Cleveland Marshall College of Law Alumni of the Year award and the John J. McMahon Outstanding Jurist Award.

Joseph DeRose has been superintendent of EHOVE Career Center since 1987. The center has received national recognition for involvement in the "High Schools That Work" initiative, which requires career technical school students to take the same rigorous academic coursework that college-bound students take. He also has been instrumental in establishing the Tech Prep partnership with BGSU Firelands, which allows students to attend specialized classes at Firelands for high school and college credit. He has earned the Community Service Award by Firelands College, the 2005 Erie County Chamber of Commerce Chairman's Award, the 1997 Buckeye Association of School Administrator's Exemplary Leadership Award and the 1993 Ohio School Boards Association Outstanding School Leader Award. He is involved with local, regional, state and national organizations. Locally, he is a member of the Erie County Chamber of Commerce, United Way Campaign Committee, BGSU Firelands Advisory Board, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Erie County, Erie County Enterprise Zone Committee and chair of the Huron Erie School Employees Insurance Consortium. He received his master's and specialist degrees from BGSU. Previously, he was superintendent of Evergreen local schools in Fulton County, Ohio, and principal in schools in Crawford and Seneca counties.

Vicki Goldsmith, who has been an educator for more than 40 years, was Iowa Teacher of the Year in 2004 and a finalist for National Teacher of the Year. She has taught at the high school and university level, including time at universities in Taipei, Taiwan; Warsaw, Poland; BGSU; and Northern Michigan University. She serves on the Friends of Drake (University) Fine Arts Board and the Iowa Model Core Curriculum Team. She is a frequent presenter and speaker for educational conferences across the U.S. She was included in Who's Who Among American Teachers and successfully applied for a National Endowment for the Humanities grant to study Greek mythology and religion. She co-chaired a cross-institutional collaborative learning project, a secondary-post secondary exchange between students at Drake University and Roosevelt High School. She is a member of the National Council of Teachers of English, the Des Moines Education Association and the Assembly for Expanded Perspective of Learning (a division of NCTE).

William MacDonald is dean and director at Ohio State University at Newark, where he previously was assistant academic dean, honors director, coordinator of distance education, interim manager of computing and telecommunications services and computer lab coordinator. He also serves on the faculty as an associate professor of sociology. He earned a Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2002-03 from BGSU Firelands, the 2000 Robert A. Barnes Award for Exemplary Teaching, a 1999 John Templeton Foundation Science and Religion Course Prize, Young Scholar in American Religion, the 1998 OSU Newark Scholarly Achievement Award and a non-service fellowship from BGSU. He has written extensively and been involved in numerous departmental, campus and university committees. He is a member and past secretary of the Ohio Association of Regional Campuses, and a member in the American Sociological Association, National Council on Family Relations, Society for the Scientific Study of Religion, the Southern Sociological Society and EDUCAUSE. His scholarly accomplishments include a wide variety of refereed publications, research grants, research presentations and teaching grants. Eugene Sanders has been superintendent of Toledo Public Schools since 2000. Prior to being named superintendent in Toledo, he was chair and director of the doctoral program in leadership studies at BGSU from 1996 until 2000. He came to BGSU in 1993 as an assistant professor, department of educational administration and supervision, and then was acting chair and associate professor. Previously Sanders was executive director of Urban Schools Research, Ohio Alliance of Black School Educators; assistant principal at Southview High School, Lorain, Ohio, and Oberlin Senior High School, Oberlin, Ohio; a graduate assistant at BGSU in educational curriculum and instruction; and a high school social studies teacher in Sandusky. He has received numerous honors and awards including Outstanding Young Men in America, Who's Who Among America's College Students, Administrator of the Year in Lorain, Outstanding Youth President of International Pentecostal Youth Auxiliary and BGSU Project Search Award. His professional affiliations include Phi Delta Kappa, Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, Erie Conference Shores Administrators Association, American Educational Research Association, Midwestern Educational Research Association, Coalition to Increase Minority Degrees, Urban Affairs Association, American Association of School Administrators and National School Boards Association. In addition to his district workload, Sanders has taken on major leadership roles at state and national levels through lobbying, presentations at conferences and groups such as the Ohio Big 8 Coalition and the National Council of Great City Schools.

Gary Fahle has worked for nearly 17 years at the National Institutes of Health, CCDLM, Microbiology Services in Bethesda, most recently as research medical technologist. He previously was a microbiology medical technologist at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo. He is a certified Medical Technologist (M.T.) and a Specialist in Microbiology (S.M.) He is a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the American Society for Microbiology. He has co-authored more than 20 publications and been involved in numerous professional presentations. Fahle has a patent related to work performed on LiPA assay for mycobacteria.

Linda Hood is known nationwide for her work in hearing and speech. Since 1987, she has served as director/scientific director of the Cochlear Implant Program at Louisiana State University Medical Center and Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital in New Orleans. She also has academic appointments as an adjunct professor and faculty member at LSU, Vanderbilt University and Central Michigan University. Previously she had been a research audiologist and a National Institutes of Health post-doctoral fellow at the Kresge Hearing Research Laboratory of the South. She started her career as a speech and hearing therapist in the Willoughby, Ohio schools and then held several audiologist positions in Ohio, Florida, Kentucky and Maryland before working at LSU Medical Center. She has been involved in many scientific review study sections and working groups for the National Institutes of Health's National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders. In 2002, she was awarded a Research Achievement Award by the American Academy of Audiology. She has held leadership positions in professional organizations at the state and national level including serving as president of the American Academy of Audiology and as member of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Ear, Nose and Throat Devices Panel. Civic activities included serving as a board member for The Little School preschool program in Metairie, La., and the Chinchuba Institute in New Orleans. She has written extensively as author and co-author of refereed journals, books, chapters, review articles and abstracts. In addition to her bachelor's degree from BGSU, she earned a master's degree in audiology from Kent State University in a doctoral degree in hearing science from University of Maryland.

Richard Nedelkoff has spent 25 years in criminal justice and public safety. In 2003, he was named president of Riga Solutions Group Inc., a national company that helps create solutions to federal, state and local government in public safety and human services. Prior to his current position, he was nominated by the President and confirmed by the U.S. Senate to be the director of the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance. He also was executive director of the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division in Austin and worked in several agencies in Florida, Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio. In addition to his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from BGSU, he earned a master's degree in administration of justice from University of Louisville, and a juris doctor degree from Capital University Law School. Nedelkoff, who has been inducted into the National Criminal Justice Honor Society, has received numerous honors and awards, including the Child Advocate Award from the Texas CASA Organization, Who's Who Among American Law Students, a distinguished service award from the Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency and the Bert Ford Commendation Award for collaboration and initiatives to help combat underage drinking. He is a noted speaker for conferences and an expert spokesperson with the media.

Charlotte Collins joined the faculty at Shenandoah University in 1959 and has been dean of the conservatory (with programs in music, theatre and dance) since 1972. In 2005, she was appointed senior dean. During her tenure, she has helped develop graduate curricula, including programs at the doctoral level. She also has led the establishment of the Concert Bureau, Radio Series and Preparatory School (Arts Academy). With her passion for the arts, she was one of the key people who established Frederick County (Virginia) Schools' elementary music program. She also studied at the Eastman School of Music and received a master's degree in music and a doctorate in music education, both from University of Michigan, and a master's degree in business administration from Shenandoah University. Currently she is associate chair of the National Association of Schools of Music Commission on Accreditation. She has been an active member and former officer with the Virginia Music Educators Association, an evaluator for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, a member of the Virginia Commission for the Arts and founding director of the Performing and Visual Arts Northwest. She was instrumental in organizing the Shenandoah Valley Youth Orchestra and was a vice president of the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival. Honors include the Wilkins Leadership Award, the Winchester-Frederick Chamber of Commerce Service Award, the Greater Madisonian Award from James Madison University, Virginia Music Educators Association Teacher of the Year Award, the United States Air Force "Airmen of Note" recognition and the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Award.

Nadine Hubbs, an associate professor of music theory and women's studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan, is currently a visiting scholar at New York University's Center for the Study of Gender and Sexuality. She also previously taught at Wayne State University and was a visiting faculty member at University of Oregon. She is a member of the American Musicological Society and its advisory council, the American Studies Association, Committee on Lesbian and Gay History of the American Historical Association, Society for American Music and Society for Music Theory. She is a founding member of the Society for Music Theory Queer Resource Group and former chair of the Philip Brett Award Committee of the AMS LGBTQ Study Group. In addition to her bachelor's and master's degrees in music from BGSU, she earned a doctorate degree in music theory from University of Michigan. She also studied horn performance with André Van Driessche at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Belgium. She received the Stephen and Sibyl Stone Faculty Award from UM's College of Literature, Science and the Arts, and an honorable mention from the CLGH John Boswell Award committee for her book The Queer Composition of America's Sound: Gay Modernists, American Music and National Identity.

Donald D. Ryder is associate professor of music and associate director of bands at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. His duties include conducting the symphonic and marching bands, coordinating the athletic pep bands and handling administrative duties for the university band program. He also oversees the undergraduate instrumental conducting curriculum and teaching music education methods courses. He earned his bachelor's degree in music education from BGSU and master's and doctorate degrees in wind conducting from the University of Iowa. Prior to joining the faculty at UT, Ryder served on the faculty at Sam Houston State University. He taught in the public schools for many years, including Troy (Ohio) City Schools and Newark (Ohio) City Schools, where he was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year. In 1991, he was presented the National Stanbury Award by the American School Band Directors Association for his teaching, contributions and achievements in the public schools. In 2004, he was inducted into the Newton (Ohio) High School Hall of Fame. In addition to ASBDA, he holds memberships in the College Band Directors National Association, Music Educators National Conference, Tennessee Music Educators Association, East Tennessee School Band & Orchestra Association and the Tennessee Bandmasters Association. He continues to serve throughout the country as a clinician, adjudicator and guest conductor in the field of instrumental music education.

Larry Golen has 27 years of experience in sales, marketing, manufacturing and service operations, including 12 years of profit and loss general management experience. As vice president and general manager of Grace Construction Products, he is responsible for operating performance of their $600 million commercial construction chemicals business in the Americas and Asia, which provides products to the concrete, cement, waterproofing and fireproofing building materials markets. Previously he was global vice president of adhesives, bonding and formulations for Cytec Industries Inc., Smyrna, Ga., after the business was acquired from Brussels, Belgium-based UCB Surface Specialties, where he previously was president of the Americas. Prior to UCB, Golen spent 13 years with the General Electric Company where he served in a variety of sales and marketing roles at GE Plastics and went on to become executive vice president and general manager for GE Capital's Technology Management Services. He started his career as a manufacturing engineer with Texas Instruments and Xerox Corporation Office Products Division. In addition to a bachelor's degree in technology from BGSU, he also earned a master's degree in business management from the University of Dallas.

Judy Sharp McFarland has more than 20 years of experience in advertising, public relations and account management from the large corporate and the interactive agency perspectives. As president of Thread Information Design, she helps build the strategic focus and creative evolution of the integrated agency that has expertise in strategy, marketing and technology. She plays an active leadership role with major corporate clients, regional non-profits and the agency's internal staff. McFarland also is one of the principals in a joint venture, virtual management firm in partnership with a Detroit-based firm. Previously, she was director of system promotion at ProMedica Health System, and held positions at Toledo Hospital, the Vascular Institute of Northwest Ohio and WTVG-TV. She serves on the board of Junior Achievement of Northwest Ohio, Toledo Area Humane Society and World Prep Inc. Her professional affiliations include Advertising Club of Toledo, American Institute of Graphic Arts and Toledo Chamber of Commerce. She has received many industry awards for excellence in advertising and was a finalist for the Northwest Ohio Entrepreneur of the Year.
