History in the making
In a seminal moment for BGSU, friends and alumni returned April 24-25 for a series of events and commemorations including the Sebo Series in Entrepreneurship, a "groundbuilding" ceremony for the Wolfe Center for the Arts and finally "Dreams Realized," a celebration of the monumental success of the Building Dreams Campaign.

Award nominations, other preparations ignite Centennial planning
As part of the BGSU Centennial Anniversary Celebration in 2010, the Alumni Association will recognize 100 of its most prominent graduates from our first century. Be sure to nominate an outstanding Falcon by June 30.

Trustees name centers of excellence,
honor Ribeau

BGSU's Board of Trustees recently approved centers of excellence in 21st Century Educator Preparation and Developing Effective Businesses and Organizations, and heard a proposal for a fifth in Sustainability and the Environment. Naming honors for former BGSU President Sidney Ribeau were also approved by the trustees.


Falcon Bash set for May 29
Join BGSU coaches, student-athletes and others for this year's Falcon Bash, which will include a golf outing, casino night, jazz lounge, auctions and more to benefit Falcon Athletics.
Volunteer Leader Spotlight In addition to activities like serving as an alumni panelist during the 2009 Volunteer Leaders Conference, Karol Spencer '79 has also served the College of Musical Arts through Pro Musica since 2002.

BGSU biology major wins prestigious Goldwater Scholarship
Jennifer Chaffin, a BGSU senior in fall 2009, was recently awarded a Goldwater Scholarship, an academic-based honor that pays up to $7,500 per year for tuition and fees, books and more.

Four new members enter Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame
The University’s Dallas-Hamilton Entrepreneurial Hall of Fame has inducted Edson “Ted” Arneault, Michael Hoskins, Otara Chandiram Gunewardane and Michael Wilcox.

BGSU awards diplomas to 2,250 students
About 2,250 students, including more than 300 graduate students, received degrees from BGSU during commencement ceremonies May 8-9 in Anderson Arena in Memorial Hall.

Falcon students encourage others to donate life
A group of BGSU students have been working to raise awareness about organ donation and register 3,200 new organ donors throughout Wood County and elsewhere in Ohio.

Dr. Kefa Otiso honored by president of Kenya
Since arriving in the U.S., Dr. Kefa Otiso has worked to raise awareness about his home country and conduct meaningful research about relevant social issues. His efforts have been noted by Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki.

BGSU biomechanical research aimed at aiding military personnel
“Oh, my aching back!” is not something you will hear from members of our military, says BGSU's Dr. Brian Campbell. Even though the highly trained soldiers often carry up to 150 pounds in gear, “they are the non-complainers.”
